ABOUT SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY
Southern Virginia University is an associate member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and a full member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The USCAA was formerly the National Small College Athletic Association, an association of colleges and universities under 1,500 students in enrollment. SVU is currently not a member of an athletic conference. The university's mascot is a Knight, and it's colors are maroon and green. Approximately 40 percent of the student body participate in intercollegiate sports. The sports programs offered for men are: football, baseball, basketball, track and field, cross country, soccer, and wrestling. For women: basketball, soccer, softball, track and field, cheerleading, cross country, and volleyball. In addition to USCAA and NAIA opponents, many SVU athletic teams compete against NCAA Division III, II, and I schools.
The athletic program is gaining strength each year. The Knights have won 15 NSCAA and USCAA National Championships in women's basketball (1), men's cross country (1), women's cross country (4), men's soccer (2), women's soccer (2), softball (1), men's track and field (1), women's track and field (2), and volleyball (1). The women's basketball team has also won a national championship from the National Bible College Athletic Association.
